Another Brick in Trump’s Wall
Trump has been extracting massive settlements from YouTube, Meta, Twitter/X and major networks — cases many experts called frivolous or abusive. Instead of paying out of pocket, these companies settle quickly and funnel money through the Trust for the National Mall to fund Trump’s new White House ballroom.
Here’s how it works:
Companies book the settlements as business expenses, which are deductible.
The nonprofit receives the money tax-free, since donations that serve its mission aren’t taxed.
Trump avoids booking taxable income, yet gets the credit and photo-op of “building” a legacy project.
The result? A ballroom that looks like it was paid for by “patriotic donors,” but in reality may be built on a string of settlements that corporations agreed to under pressure, coercion or for a quid pro quo. And if these settlements were coerced yet recorded as donations, that’s not just shady accounting — it could be fraud.
Which means the “donor wall” at Trump’s ballroom might not be a monument to generosity at all. It could be a wall of capitulation, a ledger of companies who chose to settle with Trump and were rebranded as benefactors.
Or to borrow from Pink Floyd — just another brick in Trump’s wall.
Disclaimer: This is an idea that got stuck in my head, and I’m sharing it as speculation only. Given Trump’s long record of cons and frauds, and the fact that he is a 34-count felon, it’s hard not to see patterns everywhere—but I don’t claim to know the facts here. I’m simply putting this out for reflection and discussion.

Would like to hear a lawyer's take on whether this is actually fraud. A donation coerced via lawsuit. Even without the added twist that it was from a government body, this sounds pretty shady.
Agreed. Trump has excellent fleecing skills.
