Trump and His Imaginary Friends
May 2025 – Oval Office Delusions and the Theater of Power
Today, Donald Trump spoke from the Oval Office during a visit with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa. In typical Trump fashion, he reassured the world:
“I have many friends there. Very important people. Very qualified.”
Of course he does. Just like he has “great relationships” with Putin, Kim Jong-un, and the truth.
Let’s be clear: Donald Trump doesn’t have friends. He has assets. Props. People he collects, exploits, and discards like Monopoly pieces once they’re no longer useful.
In Trump’s world, the term “friend” is a branding device—a cheap stand-in for legitimacy. He doesn’t forge bonds. He manipulates allegiances. And when he says things like “many people are saying” or “everyone tells me,”what he really means is: “I need you to believe I’m not alone.”
But he is.
Even in a packed room, Trump is an island.
A fragile one.
Loud, unstable—and sinking under the weight of his own ego.
