Rage Is Not the Problem. It’s the Fuel. Fight For Our Country! Fight For Our Freedom!
We talk about fear.
We talk about hope.
We talk about love.
But none of those alone move mountains.
Not the way rage does.
I’m not talking about cruelty, vengeance, or violence.
I’m talking about moral outrage — the kind of cell-deep knowing that something is fundamentally wrong, and no one in charge is fixing it.
What actually moves people?
Behavioral science gives us clues. Motivation is driven by:
• Avoidance of pain or loss (fear, disgust)
• Pursuit of reward (desire, hope)
• Moral violations (anger, injustice)
But among all the drivers, anger is unique.
Because unlike fear, which paralyzes…
Unlike sadness, which isolates…
Anger activates.
“Anger is an approach emotion. It pushes us to engage — to fix, to fight, to change.”
— Dr. Jennifer Lerner, Harvard Kennedy School, researcher in emotion and decision science
Neuroscience confirms this:
• Anger increases dopamine (the reward chemical)
• It spikes norepinephrine (alertness and focus)
• It lowers fear and boosts perceived control
It literally prepares the brain and body to act — not retreat.
So yes. I am angry.
I’m angry that public funds — already passed by Congress — are being clawed back by a man who lost the popular vote.
I’m angry that he’s cutting PBS, foreign aid, disaster relief — while his supporters chant about divine survival and fake bullets.
I’m angry that the media keeps chasing spectacle while real lives are on the line.
This rage isn’t the enemy.
It’s the engine.
Call to Action
Let’s stop apologizing for our outrage.
We are watching power dismantle truth, safety, and democracy — on purpose.
So use your anger.
Don’t numb it. Don’t repress it. Don’t misdirect it.
Channel it. Sharpen it. Mobilize it.
Because if you’re not angry, you’re not paying attention.
And if you are — then you’re ready to fight for something better.
