I discovered this quote yesterday. The context was about a Substack author who was leaving country. A response was insistent disputing that leaving was not as courageous as staying. I think leaving your country takes courage and many comments reflected that sentiment except that one. He was very insistent that staying is more courageous than leaving. He pointed me (a bit angry with sarcasm) to Nelson Mandala. I understand now that staying despite fear and willing to suffer hardships and stand up for justice and freedom and remain committed to the cause. If anyone knew this truth it was that giant of a hero.
