Midnight in America: Trump’s Version of Waterboarding
They say nothing good happens after midnight.
That goes double when a sleep-deprived Congress is shoving a massive bill down the country’s throat at 1AM.
Let’s be clear: staying up all night is terrible for cognitive function.
When circadian rhythms are disrupted, blood sugar crashes, and exhaustion sets in, the brain stops working properly. Patience wears thin. Judgment collapses. You’re more likely to follow orders—just to make it stop.
You know, like in Guantánamo.
This is Trump’s version of waterboarding—only now it’s being used on lawmakers and the American people.
Push them past the point of reason, flood them with chaos, and rush the signature before anyone remembers what they were fighting for.
⸻
Now layer that on top of a Republican Congress already running on fear, insecurity, and sycophancy.
These aren’t principled lawmakers.
These are single-issue loyalists, terrified of Trump’s wrath and addicted to outrage. Add sleep deprivation, and you don’t get deliberation—you get obedience.
They’re not debating.
They’re submitting.
⸻
They didn’t stay up all night to dot i’s and cross t’s.
They stayed up to sneak a monstrosity through before anyone had time—or energy—to read it.
Before anyone noticed the buried landmines:
• No sales tax on gun silencers
• Immunity for cabinet members who defy court orders or deport immigrants
• Loopholes for contemptuous officials who ignore the Supreme Court
This isn’t governance.
It’s a cover-up.
A scorched-earth strategy masquerading as policy.
⸻
And let’s not forget the personal toll.
Sleep deprivation doesn’t just dull the mind—it shaves years off your life.
These Republicans are practically aging in real time, burning themselves out for a man who wouldn’t lose a minute of REM sleep for any of them.
They’re taking metaphorical bullets for Trump—who wouldn’t take a spitball for them.
Every one of them is disposable.
Eventually, they’ll all be thrown under the bus—then blamed for the flat tire.
⸻
But here’s the problem for them:
The alarms are blaring, and we won’t ignore them.
We are here.
We are standing strong.
And we will fight you until we get our country back.
