Lindsay Graham isn’t stupid, but the way he has flip flopped on his support of Trump, and now his insertion into this controversy suggests that Trump, or his enablers/puppeteers have something fearfully damaging on Lindsay. Lindsey Graham is a gay man who’s somehow been able to hide this from all of his South Carolina voters while everyone in Washington DC know him as Lady G. It’s the same delusion that keeps MAGA under Trump’s thrall. I don’t think anti- gay sentiment is really as central to MAGA as many progressives think. Peter Thiel is gay. Roy Cohn was gay (although Roger Stone claimed Cohn was “not gay but just liked having sex with men” (!!!))
Trump’s philosophy, if you can call it that, has only to do with subservience and loyalty to him. Unlike many of his followers, he’s not really a culture warrior. If someone pleases his ego, their identity is of no consequence.
There’s also a situation where (some) gay men fit nicely into the misogyny and male domination over females in an INCEL kinda way that MAGA adheres to. Not all gay men are misogynists by any means, but the gay men in power positions most certainly are misogynists in that they simply do not care to spend society’s shared income (raised through taxes) on women, or for the betterment of the next generation. This particular subset of gay men who also occupy power positions in the MAGA world don’t perceive women, or “other people’s children” as worth or deserving of spending money on. That’s misogyny, not to mention sociopathy. And that’s what dominates MAGA and controls its thinking. So no, they don’t care that gay men exist - after all, in their mindset it’s better a gay man than any female.
