Have You Seen the WWIII Memes?
Are we coping, laughing—or sleepwalking into something real?
Lately, I’ve been talking to people in my own family—smart, good people I love. And I’m stunned.
They haven’t heard about Israel-Iran war.
They haven’t seen the latest threats.
They’re going to baseball games, walking the dog, planning vacations.
They don’t know what’s going on.
And then I open TikTok.
And there’s a totally different kind of reaction.
The WWIII Memes
Here are a few examples I’ve seen—and what they might be saying:
“Just got drafted while eating Hot Cheetos.”
Translation: This war thing doesn’t feel real. I’m numb, scrolling, snacking—what else am I supposed to do?
“WWIII starter pack” (meme collage)
• Emotional support water bottle
• Vape
• Anxiety meds
• One can of beans
• Ring light
Translation: If the world ends, I’m still bringing my comfort items. Might as well livestream it.
“Baking sourdough while the bombs drop”
Translation: I know I have zero control. So I’m going to bake bread, because it’s something my hands can still do.
These are funny—but they’re also heartbreakingly clear.
We’re scared. We’re frozen. And for some people, maybe humor is the last form of protest that still feels safe.

What About You?
Are these memes a way to stay sane—or a sign that we’re emotionally flatlining?
Do you feel what’s happening in the world right now—or does it all feel distant, too big, too surreal?
I’d love to hear your perspective—Boomer, Gen Z, whoever you are.
Because silence, sarcasm, or scrolling past—none of it means we’re OK.
Let’s talk.

P.S. If you’ve seen a WWIII meme that made you laugh—or stop in your tracks—drop it in the comments. Let’s unpack the punchline.
