Get Back to Work, Republicans—You Are Derelict in Your Duty to Americans
The People Have Spoken — But Their Voices Are Being Silenced
Adelita Grijalva has already won her special election in Arizona. The people of her district voted, their choice was clear, and her seat would bring the count to 218 — the magic number for forcing accountability. Yet instead of swearing her in, Speaker Mike Johnson and Donald Trump have pulled the oldest trick in the authoritarian playbook: send everyone home during a government shutdown, freeze the chamber, and deny the rightful representative her seat.
This is not democracy. This is delay.
Republicans are running out the clock while families face uncertainty over paychecks, while federal employees are furloughed, while vital programs stall. They have time to fly home, but not to do their jobs. They have time to block a duly elected representative, but not to negotiate in good faith.
The Stakes
Every day of delay denies Americans representation. It means one more day of dysfunction while bills pile up and workers suffer. It means Republicans get to dodge accountability while pretending the shutdown is someone else’s fault.
This is not about parliamentary procedure. It’s about denying the will of the people — pure and simple.
And it’s about supporting pedophiles.
What Needs to Happen Now
We can’t wait. Pressure must mount from every side:
• Public Pressure: Make this the headline. Write, call, post. Shine the brightest light on this denial of democracy.
• Legal Action: File lawsuits to challenge the delay in certification and swearing-in. Courts must be forced to rule.
• House Procedure: Demand privileged motions to seat Grijalva immediately. Cite precedent. Don’t let this slide.
• Expose the Absurdity: In the middle of a shutdown, Republicans aren’t at the table negotiating — they’re at home hiding.
This Is the Moment
Every abuser escalates until they are stopped. The same applies here. If Republicans get away with this trick — denying representation through delay — what will they try next?
We need to make it unbearable for them to continue. That means protests, petitions, lawsuits, op-eds, and constant pressure. That means refusing to normalize the idea that elected officials can be kept waiting in the wings while the country burns.
Get back to work, Republicans. You don’t get to clock out while the nation is in crisis.

Contact your representatives. Demand coverage in your local press. Make sure every Republican member of Congress knows you see what they are doing, and that you will not forget.
This is not business as usual. This is disenfranchisement in plain sight.
The people of Arizona’s 7th District voted. The people of America are watching.

This is the same dirty trick that Mitch McConnell used in 2016 when he refused to hold hearings on the confirmation of Merrick Garland to the Supreme Court. The Republicans in congress are all the same. They can’t win fairly, so they resort to this type of corruption. Let’s keep the pressure on until they do their legally binding jobs.

Trump has appointed leaders of his failed 1/6/2021 Insurrection to major posts in his criminal administration. His MAGA base includes an irretrievably corrupted Supreme Court; it includes criminals serving in the President’s Cabinet, hundreds of corrupt Republican Members of Congress, thousands of corrupt Republican office-holders, and millions of MAGA Neo-Nazis who hate People-of-Color.
Led by the lifelong racist Donald Trump, these MAGA racists are working with Trump to end America’s Constitutional Republic.
The overwhelming majority of Americans reject Trump, his MAGAts, the crimes they have committed, and the crimes they continue to commit. This majority will not rest until Trump is impeached, removed from office, prosecuted, convicted, and thrown into prison.
