Canada, the Quiet Strength Just North of Hope
Dear Canada,
Thank you.
Thank you for standing by us when we were unraveling.
When our lights dimmed, when our voice cracked, when Trump who was supposed to love this country began treating her like property—you didn’t look away.
You didn’t cheer the chaos. You didn’t exploit the weakness. You offered stability. Sanity. A steady heartbeat just north of our border.
We know you couldn’t fix it for us. That wasn’t your job.
But you held space. You reminded us what decency looks like. What democracy sounds like when it’s not drowning in cruelty.
You were the sibling who kept the porch light on, even when we forgot our way home.
So thank you, Canada—for believing in the best of us, when the worst of us took center stage.
We’re still bruised. Still healing. But we’re finding our voice again.
And we won’t forget that while we were surviving, you were standing quietly by the door—ready to help us walk back into the light.
With love and gratitude,
Your southern sibling, United States of America
